For sunshine, swimming and the peninsula without the summer crowds, May, June and September are especially rewarding. If you enjoy the buzz of high summer and lively days, July and August are the months to choose. To discover Saint-Tropez at a slower pace, April, May and October offer a calmer atmosphere.

Spring, from April to June
Spring is a fine time to discover the village of Saint-Tropez and the peninsula.
Temperatures are pleasant, the days grow longer and visitor numbers remain lower than in summer. It is the ideal moment to wander the narrow streets of the village, explore the Citadel or follow the coastal path. The sea, however, stays cool in April and May. For swimming, it is better to wait until June.
July and August, the heart of the season
In July and August, Saint-Tropez lives fully to the rhythm of summer.
The beaches, the restaurants, the beach clubs and the evenings are at their liveliest. The sea is also at its most inviting, around 24 to 25 °C.

September and early October
In September the sea is still warm and the coast recovers its calm: the ideal moment to enjoy Saint-Tropez differently.
This is the period regulars prefer, and with good reason. In September the water reaches 23.1 °C, against 21.5 °C in June: it has had all summer to warm up. At the same time, visitor numbers begin to fall from the first week onwards, leaving a more peaceful atmosphere.
In late September the town changes character with Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, from 26 September to 4 October 2026. Close to 250 classic and modern yachts gather in the gulf, the races can be followed from the quaysides, and the village is busy from morning to night. It is the only moment of the late season that needs to be booked far ahead.
After mid-October the peninsula changes face: the beaches close, and so do some addresses. The season then draws quickly to an end.
The major events of the season
Four dates shape the Tropezian year. They are worth the trip, provided you book well in advance, because they fill the village.
- Les Bravades, from 16 to 18 May. The town's oldest festival, with its costumed processions, its drums and its musket salvos. La Grande Bravade takes place on 17 May. On that day, the Citadel and the Musée de l'Annonciade are closed.
- La Loro Piana Giraglia, starting 20 June 2026. More than 200 boats set off on a 241-mile course between Saint-Tropez and Genoa.
- The Ramatuelle Festival, from 29 July to 12 August 2026, in the open-air theatre of the neighbouring village.
- Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, from 26 September to 4 October 2026.
What a stay costs by season
High summer is the most expensive moment of the year, and the gap with the low season is clear, on accommodation as much as on the beaches.
A few verifiable benchmarks. At Cybele beach, on Pampelonne, a daybed starts from 100 € per person in July and August. A full day at a spa on the peninsula is on an altogether different scale: at the Kube Saint-Tropez, day passes run from 399 € to 799 € per person depending on what is included, as set out in our pool day pass guide.
On accommodation, the rule holds from one property to the next: rates peak between mid-July and the end of August, and fall back clearly in May, June and September. For the same standard, moving a stay outside the six busiest weeks lowers the bill more than any other choice.
The museums, for their part, stay accessible all year. Expect 5 € for the Citadel and its maritime history museum, 5 to 6 € for the Musée de l'Annonciade depending on the exhibition, with free entry for under-12s in both cases.
What is open, what closes
The peninsula is seasonal: some of the hotels, beach clubs and seafront restaurants close in the autumn and reopen in the spring. This is what most changes the planning of an off-season stay.
The village itself does not close. Its streets and its harbour stay lively all year, and the Place des Lices market is held on Tuesday and Saturday, from 8 am to 1 pm. The Citadel opens 7 days a week, from 10 am to 6.30 pm from 1 April to 30 September, and from 10 am to 5.30 pm for the rest of the year.
Even within the village, not everything follows the same calendar: the Musée de l'Annonciade is closed on Mondays, except in July, August and September when it opens every day, and it closes from 15 January to 10 February and from 15 to 30 November.
Along the shore, by contrast, almost all the equipped beaches of Pampelonne close, as do a large share of the peninsula's hotels. Off season, check opening before booking a table or a beach.
The Kube Saint-Tropez, from spring to early autumn
The Kube Saint-Tropez follows this seasonal rhythm: the hotel is open from April to October, on the Gassin hillside, between the village and Pampelonne.
What the season changes on site. In high summer, the three swimming pools and Cybele beach are at the centre of a stay. In spring and September, it is the myBlend spa and the Le Petit Célestin rooftop that take over, with milder evenings and an open view over the gulf.
Our advice
If your dates are flexible, aim for the last week of September: you will have the warmest sea of the year, the village returned to itself, and Les Voiles in the gulf. Book from the spring, as it is the only week of the late season that sells out.
